Kilo Junior High

What is Special About Our School?

Our student body is a rich multi-cultural community.  Throughout the school, high standards and excellence are the expectations for staff and students.   At Kilo, we value learning, curiosity, determination, civility, honesty, and pride.  We are working together to create a community where everyone feels safe and successful.  We vow to accomplish this by keeping,

  • Citizenship as our priority through
  • Outstanding effort, acknowledging and seeing to
  • Understand our differences, and striving to
  • Grow academically, socially, and emotionally.  We will keep Kilo safe by
  • Accepting responsibility for our actions, and Respecting Kilo people and property.   We will hold each other accountable for our behavior, so that we may all
  • Succeed in achieving our dreams.

Each student is expected to make at least one year of academic growth for one year spent in classes at Kilo. At Kilo we have a three-tiered academic approach to learning.  Students who need additional help in reading and math are scheduled into a reading and/or math class in lieu of an elective class.  The support classes combined with the Language Arts and Math program have created a powerful instructional model for all students.  The elective Program continues to grow and has been expanded to include a 6th grade Leadership exploratory class. In addition, the Advisory class has been moved to the end of the school day and is held every day.  Students receive Advisory lessons at least once a week; there are three days that are focused on academic achievement and one day devoted to literacy.  Advisory teachers help students track their academic progress and provide additional support and instructional time to help students achieve their goals.

It is because of these opportunities that Kilo is a great place for kids!
