District Offices Moving During Winter Break
During the Winter break, Federal Way Public Schools Educational Service Center (ESC) -- the district's headquarters -- will be moving to a new location.
Offices at the current location will remain open through Thursday, December 22. However, there will be limited to no telephone services for these offices on the 22nd. In addition, the administration offices' faxes will not be working from Dec. 22 through 28.
This move has been timed to coincide with the district's winter break for district administrators, Friday, December 23 – Tuesday, December 27, to minimize the inconvenience to students, parents and the community. Our doors will open at the new location on December 29 and 30, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but services will be limited. Our offices will be fully up and running on January 3, the first day of school.
Commons Mall offices:
The district's Community Relations and Family Partnership Offices will no longer be housed in the Commons Mall location beginning December 19. You may still reach these departments through email and telephone Dec. 19-22 to schedule appointments at locations other than the mall offices.
No district email, websites or online services Dec. 28 and 29
On December 28 and 29, the district's servers and other network services will be taken offline for the move. This means that the district offices AND schools will not have the following services available from 7 a.m., December 28 – 6 p.m., December 29:
- District email
- All district and school websites
- Go2 grades online site for parents and students
On the 28th and 29th, school telephones and voicemail will be working. Some of the main district phones will become available as they are brought online. A special website has been established to provide employees with status updates as the technology is transferred to the new building. This web link is www.fwps.org/webmaster/status.
We will reopen in our new location on Thursday, December 29, but limited services will be available, as they always are during the holiday break.
January 2 is the New Year's holiday for the entire school district, so the first day of full operation at the new district building will be January 3, 2012.
