Life After High School

The district-wide annual "Life After High School" event will be held from 6:30 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2011, in the performing arts center at Decatur High School. The format is similar to a college fair. Students and parents can attend seminars or discuss post-high school plans with representatives from over 90 four-year colleges and universities, community colleges, technical schools, military academies, apprenticeship programs, a variety of specialty schools, and more. Students and parents from the district’s five high schools are invited to attend.

All of Washington's four-year private and public universities and Puget Sound technical and community colleges will be on hand. Many out-of-state colleges and private technical colleges, all branches of the military including academies and ROTC programs, and apprenticeship programs are also going to be represented. There will also be a variety of post high school-related seminars about topics such as paying for college, SAT vs. ACT, the college essay, getting into a selective college, exploring the differences between the two and four-year college option, and why to get a post secondary education.
