Todd Beamer Named Candidate School for International Baccalaureate Program
Todd Beamer High School is a candidate school* for the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Todd Beamer High School believes is important for our students.
Students entering 9th grade next year at Todd Beamer High School can learn more about the program during an information meeting at 6 p.m., Wednesday, June 15th in Room 204 at Todd Beamer High School, 35999 16th Avenue S., Federal Way, WA 98001. School of Global Leadership (SGLE) Principal Joni Hall will outline components of the Middle Years Program that will be offered to freshman students through the SGLE Academy next year.
During the coming school year, SGLE teachers will receive training and the school will be monitored and supported as they pursue implementation of the IB Middle Years Program curriculum. Todd Beamer plans to pursue the full International Baccalaureate Diploma Program for 11th and 12th-grade students beginning in the fall of 2013.
In Federal Way, Totem Middle School and Kilo Middle School have offered the IB Middle Years Program for the past year and Thomas Jefferson High School has offered the IB Diploma program since 1997.
